In recent years, the Marshall Blues Breaker pedal has become one of the most popular circuits for boutique pedal builders to put their spin on. The British Overdrive captures the tone of the original perfectly. “Vintage” mode uses the exact same clipping as the original. “Crunch” mode not only switches in LED clipping, but moves the clipping devices from soft clipping, or what is considered a more “overdrive” position in the circuit, to hard clipping, or what is considered a more “distortion” position in the circuit. It’s like being able to go from a 30watt, tube rectified, 2 x KT66 Blues Breaker combo in‐a‐box to a 50watt, solid state rectified, 2 x EL34 JCM800 in-a-box with a flick of the switch.
As with all EQ’d Vintage Series pedals, the American Distortion features a powerful 3‐band EQ with a sweepable or parametric midrange. The concentric knobs keep everything compact, yet easy to use. The soft-touch relay switching system offers reliable pop-free true bypass switching. The through-hole (not surface mount) PCB is assembled entirely by hand right here in our shop in Richland, WA
